A mortgage calculator is a great tool to get a rough idea of what your monthly mortgage payments will be on a given mortgage amount with a given deposit. For example if you use the money advice service calculator and input the following:
- Purchase price of the property is - £150,000
- 10% Deposit available = £15,000
- Mortgage term – 30 years
- Interest rate 2.25% - widely available at the time of writing for 90% mortgages
Then on a repayment mortgage, you should get a figure of £516.03. Although in isolation this tool is fairly limited, it does at least provide a starting point, after which you really should go and find a good mortgage broker 😊.
